Turner Elementary School is honored to receive the 2014 prestigious National Blue Ribbon School Award for Exemplary High Performing Schools. National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models for other schools throughout the nation, and school personnel are often sought out as mentors.

Principal Alexander and a staff member will be honored at the annual awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C. in November. At this ceremony, Turner Elementary School will receive an engraved plaque and program flag with the official seal.

The announcement was made at 1:30 PM on September 30, 2014 by U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan. All staff and students assembled together to celebrate this award. Principal Alexander acknowledged staff members with blue ribbon pins and students were acknowledged with cookies.
