Here's some happenings from Turner Elementary School:

On the morning of March 8, we had 179 participants at the PTC sponsored Pancakes for Parents.

Turner Elementary School students enjoy the long-awaited swing set.  On Tuesday, December 13, the installation crew from Ultiplay Parks and Playgrounds assembled the swing set purchased from funds mostly raised through the efforts of parents of former Turner Elementary School students. The swing set is blue and green complimenting the other pieces of playground equipment which were purchased three years ago.

“The swings are awesome!” One student said.   Another student was heard saying he was proud to be one of the first students to swing on the swing.

Fifth graders in Mrs. Fereshetian’s looping class began the school year with a very special visitor; Donn Fendler, from the story Lost on a Mountain in Maine.  Last year the students wrote letters after reading the survival story and one asked if he would visit.  He wrote an eleven page letter in return with a portion addressing each child’s questions, and also included a phone number at which to reach him.  A visit was arranged for the next week.  The class was thrilled!

We are off to a great start at Turner Elementary School. If feels like children are right back in the full swing of school. As I walk into classrooms, students are all actively engaged in learning. My goal is to learn each student's name and your children are great at challenging me in my quest.  It was wonderful to meet many of you at our meet and greet evening on September 6.  I look forward to an exciting year working with you and your children.
