Health Office Reminder

posted Jan 13, 2017, 8:29 AM by Mark McDonough

Since our return from the holiday break, we have experienced several cases of gastrointestinal illness.  Many students are experiencing stomach aches, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.  This is a great time to review the district handbook policies and methods to prevent the spread of illness.

As it says on page 24 of the 2016-2017 Parent and Student Handbook, students should not return to school until 24 hours after symptoms of fever, diarrhea and vomiting have resolved.  Students who return prior to the 24 hour period continue to spread germs to their classmates and teachers.  We realize this can be a hardship for parents, however, it is our goal to keep our entire student and staff population healthy.  Washing hands thoroughly after eating, coughing, sneezing, or using the bathroom will help reduce the occurrence of illness.  Coughing into the sleeve is also a helpful way to prevent the spread of germs.  We appreciate your assistance by calling to inform the office staff of specific symptoms when your child is sick.
